I told you the other day about ACL managing director Jim Wallace’s little fauxpas on Twitter, that once again made it clear for everyone to see how the ACL is just a club of old white bigots trying to pressure politicians into following their homophobic and xenophobic agenda.
It took a while, but now I am informed in the Star Observer that finally the True Christians™ are coming out in droves to tell the public loud and clear how they are not as bigoted as Jim Wallace, and that they are just as appalled as secularists and like, normal people, about Wallace’s ANZAC comments on how Australian soldiers didn’t fight for gay rights or Muslims. Check out what they wrote in their petition :
“The Australian Christian Lobby claims to represent the interests of Australian Christians in its operations throughout our federal, state and territory parliaments.
“We believe it is much more influential than it deserves to be, and that it represents only the most conservative Christians in Australia. The Christian political agenda in this diverse country is much more nuanced than the ACL’s agenda.
“We would like our respective governments to spend less time listening to and seeking to appease the ACL.
“We are Australian Christians, and we’d like you to know that the Australian Christian Lobby does not speak for us.
I even support this petition, I think it’s great that people stand up to this pathetic mob. However, there is a problem. About 60% of Australians are Christians, that’s about 12 million people. So how many Christians have signed this petition so far, in the 3 days since it was published, and linked and re-linked to ? I went and had a look just now.
