I told you about having recently bought this super mega gaming laptop, an ASUS G75V, right?
Well, it’s a great piece of hardware, I have to say. However, it also features Windows 8. Now, I have used computers for about 18 years, I own 4 machines running Linux(a couple dual-boot with W7), one Macbook and now this laptop. I can do a bit of coding, and know some stuff about networking and internet security. So I’m not your average computer newbie, I would say. But I had to google how to shut down Windows 8.
I read that Microsoft doesn’t want you to shutdown your machine and rather have it in standby or hibernation like a tablet device. But these are mainly Desktop PC’s we’re talking about here. Most users want to shut their computers down when they go to bed. Granny Mabel will not know to press Alt-F4 to shut down her Desktop. This is such a breathtakingly stupid design flaw in an operating system designed to be the next big long-term thing, it’s simply mindboggling.
