Dana Hunter over at “En Tequila Es Verdad” has answered PZ Myers’ recent challenge to write a piece about why one is an atheist. I like this quote :
I didn’t leave God, at first. I started studying other religions, though, and watching the world, and God made less and less sense. Where was God, in all of these conflicting belief structures? If he existed, why couldn’t he sort this shit out?
And I love this video she links to, where you can calculate your God Delusion Index :

science can not prove there is no God either so what is it that you are really saying. It sounds like you are as delusional as those you claim to be.
You see, it’s kinda not a priority right now for science to prove that supernatural beings exist. Science is busy trying to fix global warming, cancer, quantum computing and better non-stick pans. If you have a proof for the existence of gods, feel free to post it here !
Still ROTFLing at the explanation of the scores at the end.
It is always amusing to see how many of the god-believers will post the same comments while hiding behind a false ID. Maybe there is only a very few of them, busily spouting the same nonsense under different guises? Perhaps they are all ashamed of what they are saying? I always felt that, if you had to hide who you are, perhaps you shouldn’t be doing what you’re doing.
I’m looking at you, “be”.
Dear be, there’s a very fine line between “faith” and “delusion”. You should be severly embarrassed to have faith in the nonsense you’ve been soaking up since childhood. It’s little more than amusing nonsense that sadly has a profoundly negative effect on huge swarms of people.
@be
Science isn’t in the business of proving inexistence. What it does do is find the best correspondence between reason and reality, and there is simply no real deity, especially not God, in anything science has discovered about the natural world.
The need for proof against God’s existence is a misdirection anyway. You don’t need proof that Santa Claus is not real, do you? No, what you get are facts that make the existence of Santa Claus extremely unlikely to such a degree that Santa would have to be possessing millions of caretakers simultaneously every second to exist at all. You hardly need science to then think that anyone who believes there is a real Santa Claus is an ignorant person and wrong.
