Hillsong- the Christian brainwashers in our midst

On the surface and from the outside Hillsong may appear to be just about community, tasteless schmaltzy Christian music and people getting high on sky fairies. And that is probably what their success is mainly based on. But if you look a little closer, this Evangelical megachurch movement is a brainwashing juggernaut with aspirations to political power, and an organisational structure tailored to get them while they’re young.

I told you how not long ago I had the misfortune to cop the one taxi driver in Singapore playing brainrot Hillsong Pop on my way to the airport, but that’s nothing compared to the worldwide efforts of this cult to gain political influence and followers, especially among the young. And when I say young, I mean young.

There are two dedicated subgroups within Hillsong that are obviously aimed at indoctrinating children, and when I say children, that includes infants :

Hillsong Kids is for families with new born babies to children in Year 6 at school. We take great care in presenting Jesus in a way that is fun and relevant for the children of our church and community.

We have a desire to see children’s ministry flourish all over the world and hope that you will find this site helpful in understanding the Children’s Ministry of Hillsong Church.

If David and Beci Wakerley the Christian creeps ever come near your children, I suggest you call law enforcement. But Hillsong also has a plan and a department to brainwash your older kids :

Hey guys! Welcome to our Hillsong Youth web-site! Our youth ministry is passionate about Jesus, and seeing young people fulfill their God-given potential.

We hope that you’ll have fun on this site, as you grab a hold of some free stuff, and check out the best of what’s happened at youth! But more than anything we hope that it helps spur you to build a greater personal relationship with Jesus, and help connect you to His cause and His church.

There’s devotional blurbs, and tools to help you with your own devotional life, as well as opportunities to pray for the needs of the people in our youth ministry. You can also find out about epic upcoming events, as well as our weekly gatherings.

blurbs, cyber, galactic, epic, stuff, check out, ya…That’s what you get when mindless godbot zombie drones are trying to sound hip for the purpose of luring vulnerable children into the cult.

Of all the attempts of Christians in Australia and worldwide to proselytize to children, the poor, the vulnerable and the susceptible, Hillsong (and Scientology)are up there with the very worst. Australian politicians like Peter Costello and John Howard have spoken at Hillsong events, Bob Carr, Peter Dutton and Kevin Andrews, among others, have attended.

Brian and Bobbie Houston’s Hillsong is today a part of the global “Assemblies of God” organisation. A fundementalist outfit based in the US that insists that the earth is 6000 years old, creation happened, homosexuality is a sin, abortion is murder, and all the unpalatable and bigoted rest of it. And of course, that god will only love you and look after you if you worship him accordingly. In other words, if you give money. Because, as we all know, god always needs more money. This is called prosperity teaching. Brian Houston presumably does not like to be reminded these days that he once wrote a book called “You need more money”.

Hillsong also supported, together with Gloria Jean’s Coffee (a company that not also produces terrible coffee, but also donates to the Australian Christian Lobby), the disgusting Mercy Ministries scheme to lure young women with mental problems into a harmful and traumatic Bible reading and exorcism program, after promising them psychological help, a few years ago.

Hillsong is all about making money and about recruitment. And recruitment for Hillsong, as we can see on their website, starts at birth. Which makes this particular Christian cult, never mind its attempted rebranding of Christianity as cool and openminded or even progressive and somehow hip, an enemy of democracy, of free thought, and a danger to our children. Our ears hurting from their failed attempts at music is really just collateral damage.

It never ceases to amaze me how otherwise intelligent people fall for these charlatans. I know people mostly girls who have been sucked in despite there otherwise strong stance on independence and gender equality.
Out of curiosity I’ve watched some its of Hillsong broadcasts on Foxtel truely vomit inducing stuff to a critical mind and full of God (well Bobbie and Brian) wants your money.

  2. hi Cowcakes,

you mention Hillsong broadcasts on Foxtel. Can you point me to any instances of that ?

  3. You aren’t objective in any of your arguments makes it very hard to view your piece as either a personal agenda or actual facts.

“If David and Beci Wakerley the Christian creeps ever…”
    “mindless godbot zombie drones”

Your writing is more of an attack on Hillsong then an “alert” of what might be wrong with it.
Your cognition is very poor. Take some time and right something that makes a clear objective argument.

  4. Your writing is more of an attack on Hillsong

    Oh, absolutely.

  5. Christianity as “cool”? Jees, that’s even above the power of hillsong. It’s about as cool as lawn bowling, driving a white toyota and deep fried food. No amount of marketing savvy, “cool” logos, dishonest names and the rest of the rot will ever make it cool. love watching them try.

I know I’m a year late to this article and all but I just thought I’d vent my frustration. You see, I’m in senior high school now, and hillsong has been doing seminars at my school for about 6 years (90% of us see past them and ignore them though), the problem is, they’ve just recently taken control of the opt-out scripture service at my old primary school where my younger siblings go, and though they never took any interest to religion before, they come home singing hillsong god-pop songs about how great it is because they were taught christianity as a hard fact.

    just sickening
