The Christian god, as we all know, created humankind and everything that exists, and he is all-knowing and all-powerful. But he needs money. And apparently also theater captains. Because you see, there is a campaign underway to sneak faith and religion into mainstream cinema in the USA. Ever since Mel Gibson was deemed too crazy even for most Christians, and since the Creationists failed spectacularly with their “Expelled” farce, organized christianity has been scheming to find new ways to get their god into the public eye once more, since this all-powerful being would apparently lose ground and credibility without a good PR campaign.
So now we have the Movie to Movement, er, movement. If you take a look at their website you will soon realize that their mission is not to “promote films which encourage a culture of: Life, Love and Beauty”, as stated, but to in fact produce and promote movies with a Christian and conservative values enforcing message. In short, Jesus goes to Hollywood. Two recent examples of such movies are “Hardflip” and “For Greater Glory” (I’m not linking to this drivel, google it for yourself if you must), the latter even featuring Andy Garcia and Peter O’Toole.
To come, and to be promoted across the US by zealous and faithful theater captains, are such howlers as “2016, Obama’s America” and “Last Ounce of Courage”(“Our freedoms are being lost, it’s time to take a stand”).
Personally, I prefer to watch Idiocracy. My son will one day look at it as a documentary.
