If you are a religious believer who holds the stories collected in your faith’s holy book to be true accounts of real historical events, for example that a global flood killed all the land animals, or that dead people got out of their graves and walked through Jerusalem, or that a talking snake and an apple tree featured prominently in human evolution, then you can only have arrived at this conviction by a process of heavy post hoc rationalization, compartmentalization and other mental twisting that required bypassing your brain’s logic and reasoning faculties.
