Fun with Twitter

I’m really not a huge twitter person, there are allegedly some twonks who follow me, but I wouldn’t even know how many, or how to find out about that. Anyway, it’s a nice and easy way to have some fun on my mobile while on the lunch break at work, or while sitting in some airport lounge. I don’t get involved much in what people tweet and retweet, I tend to stick to Ricky Gervais, Sarah Silverman, Marieke Hardy and some of my friends there.

And then I get the occasional out of the blue weird message there, like today:

Why no free internet, Crown Towers?

Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s not just Crown Towers in Melbourne that rips off its guests with exorbitant charges for a slow and flaky internet connection, it’s pretty much every single 5-star hotel I ever stayed in, and I stay in quite a few. Not a single of the 5-star hotels I’ve been to in the last 12 months, whether in Germany, Australia, China, Thailand, Singapore or the UK, has offered free wireless internet. Or even wired internet. No, this basic service comes at a premium price on top of the already hefty room charge. Continue reading
