You may have heard of the female secularist blogger from Egypt who posted nude photographs of herself on her blog in what she calls “screams against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy” in that country, where after the fall of the Mubarak regime Islamists are fighting for political power and influence.
As I understand it, there is a parliamentary election scheduled for November 28, and there is a massive push by Islamists against the ruling Military Council (which seems to be favouring a Qatar-style “Sharia lite”), that took over after Mubarak was toppled. Since Mubarak’s demise, under whose reign Islamist parties were banned, there are now 14 of them. Among them the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Salafists.
Make no mistake, the first thing to go should Egypt fall under Islamic rule, will be women’s rights and freedoms. Women are a threat to Islamists, so those fiery eyes, tempting toes and thinking brains must be hidden and silenced. Which is why we need to vocally support women like Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, and we need to do it now. Show your support on Twitter using the #NudePhotoRevolutionary hashtag, on Facebook, and on her blog.

What is going on earth!!! everyone is speaking about Islamists in Egypt asif they are not a part of Egyptian Nation. All is speaking same words and also same phrase with ONLY one fear of application the REal ISLAM. What this whore did is not a voice against islam or a metaphore..This is a gainst any pure girl and above all against any decent norms in this life. There must be rules which must be respected..

CAIRO: The first legal move against the nude revolutionary pictures have occurred as the Coalition of Islamic law graduates filed a case against activist Aliya Magda al-Mahdy and her boyfriend, and blogger, Kareem Amer, on Thursday accusing them of “violating morals, inciting indecency and insulting Islam.”
The report, which was submitted to the general prosecutor, said the activist published a nude picture of herself “trying to spread her obscene ideology through the nude pictures.”
The report was published in full on the coalition’s Facebook page, called for Mahdy and Amer to be punished according to Islamic law.
Yeah, those women and their obscene ideology. What we need to do is laugh at those freaks, and pity their insecurity and repressed sexuality. But these clowns can no longer be allowed to oppress, silence or kill women. We have to speak out, raise awareness and stop this.
Unfortunately it is likely that the religious extremists win in Egypt, because they have the image of being the ones who have been oppressed, and they can use that to convince the more moderate people to vote for them. Once they are in power they will make Iran look like a secular country by comparison.
