Georgie Pell, the head of the Catholic Church in Australia, a pompous fool in red robes and a funny hat, a man appointed not elected, likes to speak for Christians, and Catholics, and everyone else for that matter.
He gave an interview to the Herald Sun yesterday, a Melbourne tabloid that values good journalism as much as it values bloody diarrhoea.
Says Georgie :
“If a person says, ‘Look, I’m not a Christian, I’ve a different set of perspectives’, I disagree but I understand,” the Archbishop of Sydney said.
“If a person says to me, ‘Look, I’m nominally a Christian but it sits lightly with me’, I understand that.
“But it’s incongruous for somebody to be a Captain Catholic one minute, saying they’re as good a Catholic as the Pope, then regularly voting against the established Christian traditions.”
Translation : “Don’t you dare to call yourself a Catholic or Christian in public if you are planning on voting for, say, abortion, or gay marriage”. So far, so disgusting, but that’s Georgie for you, always has the best interest of his club of reactionary pedophilia-enablers closest to his heart.
He said: “To the extent that on a significant number of issues you depart from Christian teachings you know it’s incongruous to be billing yourself as a champion of Christian rights. And the Catholic Church doesn’t teach the primacy of conscience. You know if somebody said apartheid was all right, nobody would say, ‘Yes you can say that because of the primacy of conscience’.”
Yep, no such thing as conscience is allowed if you want to be a Catholic. Follow the party line, or else.
“I’m not telling people how to vote,” he said. “I’m telling people how I think they should vote. I’m an Australian citizen and I have as much right to do that as any other citizen.”
So now he’s just an Australian citizen ? Didn’t he just threaten anyone who votes against the Catholic party line with expulsion, or with not being able to claim to be a Catholic any longer ? What an assclown. But I am praying to the celestial teapot that Georgie Pell stays in office as head of the Catholic Church as long as possible. He is the best demolition hammer of organised religion in this country that any atheist could ever dream of. If he wasn’t for real, we would have to invent him.
