I find it odd that Gervais was so halting and stumbling when he normally is so articulate. He must have been asked those same questions countless times before so had answers that were as polished and rational as he is in his act.
None of the questions by Morgan were new or particularly sensible. As a representative of atheism, Gervais might consider having responses to the regular questions that are a bit more prepared. Like it or not, as an internationally famous person, he will be considered a representative of atheism whether he likes it or not.
For example, when he said, “Other people’s beliefs do not matter to me. He might have added, “As long as they do not try to force them upon me or others.” That would have summed up the basis of atheist’s problem with religion very neatly.
