A Democratic polling company called Public Policy Polling has published a set of polling results that relate to the current debt ceiling crisis in the US, the Murdoch business, as well as other, more general questions. They used automated telephone interviews with 928 Americans in mid-July to get their results. There are a few funny ones in there, ever so slightly question-begging :
Q7
If God exists, do you approve or disapprove of
its performance?
Approve …………………………………………………. 52%
Disapprove……………………………………………….. 9%
Not sure ………………………………………………….40%
Well, I guess if you believe in god, you do it because you think the guy is good for something ! And after all, he made you, right !
Moar funny poll :
Q8
If God exists, do you approve or disapprove of
its handling of natural disasters?
Approve …………………………………………………. 50%
Disapprove…………………………………………………13%
Not sure ………………………………………………….37%
Err, that one is curious. I don’t quite know what to make of that result in the land of Katrina and Joplin. A majority of Americans are pleased with God on the issue of how many people die from natural disasters in the US ?
This one is just weird :
Q10 If God exists, do you approve or disapprove of
its handling of creating the universe?
Approve …………………………………………………. 71%
Disapprove……………………………………………….. 5%
Not sure ………………………………………………….24%
Of course. I, a semi-sentient ape from a remote planet in some remote corner of some remote galaxy in some remote universe, approve of the work of the omnipotent creator god I happen to be believing in. Some hubris, that !
I suggest one more poll question for Americans :
If god exists, do you think he can make a rock so heavy that he himself cannot lift it ?
